Nintendo DS Knappheit, Preise + Redesign
Knappheiten und Lieferengpässe führen im Land der aufgehenden Sonne zu starken Preisanstiegen beim Nintendo DS. Bereits wurden erste Geräte gesichtet, die knapp 260 USD kosten - praktisch gleich viel wie ein PSP Gigapack (also eine PSP + Gigabyte Memory Stick).
Gerüchte besagen, dass die Knappheit auch auf ein kleineres Produktionsvolumen zurückzuführen sei, da angeblich einer redesignter DS komme. Tatsache ist, dass Nintendo Europe heute ein Redesign dementiert hat.

Na ganz einfach, wenn viele Leute hat, die wenige Geräte wollen steigt der Preis. Hast ja bei der Xbox 360 gesehen, da gabs auch zuwenige und schon war der Preis für ein System auf 900 Dollar.

Das ist aber nicht als grundsätzliches Dementi zu verstehen.
Els liest sich durchaus zwischen den Zeilen das wir in naher Zukunft einen neuen NDS sehen werden.

Nintendo Re-Design NO SHOW
It proved to be bogus. We were relaying last week a growing rumor from Japan’s retail front, that hinted at 16th of January as the date Nintendo of Japan would choose to announce the re-designed Nintendo DS. While it still seems clearer and clearer to everybody that the re-design is on the way, 16th came and went, proving not to be the day of the glorious unveiling. Our source in Japan had the following to comment about the non-event: “No announcement today. It is 100% sure Nintendo will release new thin type DS. But now the date of the announcement is unclear. The rumors were wrong after all. Almost all suppliers and retailers believed it here in Japan! Not to mention the shortage situation on Nintendo DS got everybody a bit more nervous than they were already… Sooner or later new DS system will be announced, but not now apparently.” He is sure not risking himself into passing another date to us, last week’s internet storm taught everybody a lesson around these here parts
